We are looking for you as Transport Manager/ Head of Transport EU (m/f/d), based in our Distribution Center in Heerlen.
We are JD – one of the leading multi-channel retailers for sneakers, sports fashion and outdoor brands with over 90,000 employees in 36 countries and 4,500 stores.
The purpose of this role is to manage the outbound flow of stock for the JD Business Units to the point of receipt by the customer or colleagues in store. You and your team will select the right Transport Partners to provide the respective services for all outbound functions. In addition, systems visibility and control from both in-house and external providers need to be selected and supported, working in collaboration with the JD IT team. Success in the role will be demonstrated by clear performance metrics covering accuracy, lead time, efficiency, and collaboration in both the UK and European operations.
A key focus will be aligning the Transport infrastructure (e.g., vehicles used) with the Group’s ESG targets and commitments in the most efficient way possible.
Ability and commitment to travel as required within Europe as business priorities demand.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Europe Transport Team and outsourced partners.
- Deliver the planned operational KPIs for the respective Retail and Multi-Channel functions.
- Develop a continuous improvement plan across all areas of responsibility, focusing on service and efficiency.
- Work with group procurement on supplier tendering and demand planning to secure capacities at appropriate pricing.
- Conduct a strategic review of the retail Hub network within Europe.
- Set and report operational and financial metrics at board level.
- Enhance Transport operations to achieve best-in-class lead times and sustainability improvements.
- Collaborate with the JD IT Team to select and improve a TMS for retail and Multi-Channel operations.
- Deliver projects in line with PMO governance.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and policy standards.
- Work closely with DC Operational Teams to ensure seamless outbound process flows.
- Maintain a repository of business processes for use in future projects.
- Act as the subject matter expert for communication and relationship management with key stakeholders (Retail, Multi-Channel, IT).
