Logistics Operations Engineer | Lean, Process Improvement & Warehouse Operations

Do you enjoy walking the warehouse floor, identifying inefficiencies, and turning data into practical solutions? At GXO Heerlen, you'll work directly with operations to improve warehouse performance through Lean initiatives, process optimization, and automation projects.
As a Logistics Operations Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping and optimizing warehouse operations. Working alongside Site Engineers, Business Information Analysts, and Data Analysts, you'll help identify opportunities for improvement, translate data into actionable insights, and drive projects that directly influence performance across the operation.
You'll work in a day shift position and partner closely with operational stakeholders, giving you the opportunity to see the results of your ideas in practice.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes and operational efficiency.
- Analyze data and performance trends to support informed decision-making.
- Design and map warehouse processes, layouts, and operational workflows.
- Lead and support the implementation of new processes and improvements.
- Drive Lean initiatives, including Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and waste reduction projects.
- Develop business cases and recommendations that contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- You'll be the bridge between operations and engineering, identifying improvement opportunities, solving operational challenges, supporting WMS and automation initiatives, and ensuring improvements are successfully implemented on the warehouse floor.

What You'll Bring
- HBO or university degree in Logistics, Technical Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with logistics operations, warehousing, or supply chain processes.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into practical improvements.
- Experience working with Excel and other business tools.
- Dutch is preferred. Candidates with strong English skills and willingness to further develop their Dutch are also encouraged to apply.
- A proactive and independent approach, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive projects forward.
- Experience with WMS, SQL, automation technologies, or data analytics is highly valued.
