QESH Officer – Health & Safety | Heerlen
Are you someone who can build trust quickly, influence behaviour and bring Health & Safety to life in a busy operation? At our fast-growing site in Heerlen, we’re looking for a QESH Officer who will be highly visible on the shop floor, engaging colleagues, challenging unsafe ways of working and helping people make safer choices every day.
This is a practical, hands-on role where your ability to influence people will matter just as much as your technical knowledge.

What you’ll be doing
As QESH Officer, your main focus will be Health & Safety. You’ll spend time where it matters most: in the operation, talking to colleagues, observing ways of working, coaching teams and helping leaders turn safety expectations into everyday actions. This is not a desk-based or purely theoretical role — it needs someone who can communicate clearly, influence positively and create buy-in across all levels of the site.
Your impact
- Make Health & Safety practical, visible and relevant for colleagues across the operation
- Influence, coach and engage colleagues on the shop floor to encourage safer ways of working
- Work closely with operational leaders to build ownership of Health & Safety within their teams
- Carry out audits, inspections and spot checks, including preparation for external inspections
- Turn procedures, observations and improvement actions into clear, practical steps that people understand and follow
- Lead and support risk assessments, including RI&E activities and follow-up actions
- Support and help drive the Safety Committee
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes and support clear, meaningful reporting
- Use data and insights to improve Health & Safety performance
- Help build a safety culture where people feel confident to speak up, take ownership and look out for each other
What you’ll bring
- HBO working and thinking level, ideally with practical experience in Health & Safety, QESH or a related operational environment
- Experience in a safety-focused role where you have influenced people, challenged behaviours and supported change on the shop floor
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage colleagues at every level
- A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to translate Health & Safety requirements into clear everyday actions
- The confidence to challenge constructively, ask the right questions and bring people with you
- The ability to stay organised and positive in a fast-moving environment
- Good communication skills in Dutch and English
- The ability to travel to Heerlen on a daily basis, ideally within around one hour
- Eligibility to work in the EU
