We are looking for you as Automation & Engineering Senior Manager (m/f/d) based in our Distribution Center in Heerlen.
The Senior Manager of Automation and Engineering in Heerlen DC reports to the Director/Head of Automation & Engineering with a dotted line to the EU Supply Chain Director.
Managing a highly automated facility (600,000+ sq. feet), equipped with systems from various suppliers such as pouch systems, shuttle, GTP, sorters, and conveyors, capable of delivering millions of units monthly.
Responsible for overseeing the entire automation solution, including the current setup and future expansions, as well as the electromechanical and logical systems, driving the evolution and continuous improvement of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all Automation Projects, including improvements, new projects, and efficiency enhancements, ensuring delivery within budget and timelines.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key automation suppliers, holding regular meetings to set goals, SLAs, and drivers.
- Collaborate with various departments, including operations, to align on automation goals.
- Manage KPIs, SLAs, and the financial budget for Automation & Engineering within the DC.
- Identify, propose, and track improvement projects, creating business cases and managing investment budgets.
- Ensure the logic of the automated system is optimized to improve operational performance, collaborating closely with the operational department.
- Establish and track KPIs and SLAs for automation, in line with industry standards.
What you bring with you
- Degree in Automation Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading teams or projects within automated facilities.
- A proven track record in managing highly automated facilities.
- Knowledge of WCS (Warehouse Control System), WMS (Warehouse Management System), and IT Supply Chain.
- Expertise in mechatronics, machinery, and PLC systems, with complete control over automation processes.
- ISO certification is a plus (ideally already acquired).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and driven to achieve continuous improvement.
- Proven leadership skills and a collaborative approach.
- Demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude, treating colleagues and partners with respect.
